Tailor Brands sells a guided, polished LLC formation with a branding bundle. The $0 Lite plan is genuine, but the checkout is where the real price appears: $199 or $249 a year for the faster plans, $199 a year for the registered agent and $99 for an EIN filing, all before the state fee.

The plans, without the marketing

What is good

  • Fast processing on paid plans. Essential and Elite advertise one-business-day processing, which is useful if you need the entity quickly.
  • Branding tools in the box. If you do not have a logo, domain or basic website, the bundle has real value; if you do, it is dead weight.
  • Clear plan structure. The three tiers are easy to compare, and the state fee is shown separately.
  • Guided workflow. The dashboard walks a first-time founder through formation, which is helpful if you have never dealt with a US state.

What to watch

  • The $0 plan is slow. Up to 14 business days is fine for a side project and painful if a client or platform is waiting.
  • The add-ons add up. A $0 Lite formation plus a $199 agent plus a $99 EIN is already $298 before the state fee. Essential plus agent plus EIN is $497.
  • The bookkeeping trial converts. The pricing page says the free trial expires after 30 days and then costs $39/month unless cancelled. Put a cancellation reminder in your calendar.
  • No tax filing in the formation plans. Tailor sells tax and accounting services separately. Form 5472 is not included in the LLC plan.
  • EIN for a non-resident is not a guaranteed outcome. The $99 service prepares the request; the IRS still decides. Ask what happens if the application is rejected.

Support, documents and the parts you cannot see from the checkout

The public page does not publish a support SLA or a named account manager for the LLC plans. It does publish a help centre, a phone number and a dashboard. For a non-resident, the practical test is whether support can answer three questions in writing: who signs the state filing, how the EIN application is submitted, and what happens if the registered-agent renewal fails. Ask those before paying. A polished checkout is not the same as a compliance team.

The documents you should receive are the stamped articles, the operating agreement, the EIN confirmation letter and the registered-agent details. Check that the legal name and address match the state filing and the EIN application. A mismatch is the most common reason a bank application stalls, and it is easier to fix before the first invoice than after.

Who it is for

A founder who wants a fast, guided formation and a starter brand, and who values the dashboard over the lowest three-year cost. It is also a reasonable choice if you are forming a simple LLC and want the one-day processing without hiring a lawyer.

Who it is not for

A cost-sensitive consultant who already has a brand and an accountant. The annual plan and agent renewal can exceed the formation fee many times over. If you need Form 5472, bookkeeping or US tax filing, compare a specialist tax provider instead of assuming the formation bundle covers it.

The three-year view

Wyoming with Essential and the agent: $100 state + $199 plan + $199 agent + $99 EIN = $597 in year one; $60 state + $199 plan + $199 agent = $458 a year after that. With Lite and the agent: $100 + $0 + $199 + $99 = $398 in year one; $60 + $199 = $259 a year. The difference between Lite and Essential is mostly speed, not the annual plan; check the renewal structure carefully.

Verdict

Tailor is a good product with a checkout that rewards attention. If you want speed and a brand starter kit, it is a credible option. If you want the lowest total cost, Northwest or a DIY filing will usually beat it. Read the plan details, cancel the trial if you do not need it, and confirm the EIN service scope before paying.

Frequently asked

Is Tailor Brands' $0 LLC plan real?
Yes, the Lite plan is $0 plus state fees. It processes in up to 14 business days and still requires a registered agent, which Tailor prices at $199/year. The $0 is a formation fee, not the total cost.
Does Tailor Brands include a registered agent?
The pricing page lists registered-agent service at $199/year as a separate service. Check the checkout summary for the plan you choose; do not assume it is included.
Is Tailor Brands good for non-residents?
It can form an LLC for a non-resident and sells an EIN filing service for $99. It does not guarantee IRS approval, and it does not file your Form 5472 or home-country tax return. Confirm the EIN process and refund policy before paying.
Why is the Elite plan $249 but the affiliate commission $250?
That is a programme-design detail, not a price you pay. The public plan price is $249. A commission can be equal to or higher than a plan price; it does not change your invoice. See the affiliate disclosure.
